Junior YouTube Video Editor (Independent Contractor)
Starting Pay: $18–25/hour
Position Type: Hourly Independent Contractor (1099), approximately 10-20 hrs / month to start
1-2 years editing experience preferred (basic editing knowledge). Students, self-taught editors, and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Doodle On A Motorcycle is expanding the team and looking for a junior YouTube video editor who genuinely loves YouTube. We're less concerned about years of experience than we are about curiosity, work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to become exceptional at storytelling.
This isn't just a freelance editing gig - we're looking for someone excited to grow with the team over the long term. If you're the type of person who studies why videos go viral, notices little editing details nobody else sees, or gets excited about constantly improving your craft, we'd love to hear from you.
This isn't just a video editing position - you'll be learning how to create YouTube videos that reach hundreds of thousands (and sometimes millions) of viewers.
Tasks may include (but are not limited to):
• Editing long-form YouTube videos from raw footage into engaging stories.
• Creating new and repurposed short-form content (YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.).
• Learning from YouTube analytics to improve future videos and overall channel performance.
• Creating simple graphics, motion graphics, memes, and other creative visual elements.
• Exploring and using AI tools to improve creativity and workflow efficiency.
• Opportunity to assist on motorcycle road trips, filming days, and special projects.
Qualifications
• Able to meet tight deadlines.
• Prompt, professional, dependable, and highly efficient.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Strong time management skills.
• Interested in learning storytelling, pacing, and viewer retention.
• Curious by nature and enjoys learning how things work.
• Constantly looking to improve your skills.
• Comfortable receiving constructive feedback and applying it.
• Comfortable working on a wide variety of topics while remaining professional and objective.
• Experience with Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, or similar software preferred, but not required.
• Interest in motorcycles is a bonus, but definitely not required.
You might be a great fit if...
• You pause YouTube videos just to figure out how they were edited.
• You enjoy solving creative problems.
• You've made videos just for fun - even if they're not professional.
• You naturally notice small details that other people miss.
• You're excited to build a career in YouTube content creation.
• You're looking for a place to grow, not just your next freelance project.
